10 Top Tips to find the perfect Wedding Venue

Asian Wedding Venues

GREAT Wedding Venues are notoriously difficult to find and decide upon. Once your wedding day has been set, the race is on to find the ideal venue. Invariably, time, availability and budget will decide for you.

To make sure your wedding venue meets your expectation, follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose a venue as close to your home/base as possible; the journey shouldn’t take more than 40 minutes.
  2. An obvious question, but an important one; check that the wedding venue is large enough for the number of guests attending.  So your guests are comfortable, ensure there aren’t too many seats at a table and there is space between the tables so guests can move around easily. For an Asian wedding, you also need to consider the stage; the space it will need and where it’s best placed.  Also ensure that the head table is not obstructing the stage where the bride and groom will sit – it makes it difficult to capture quality photographs and video footage.  Ask the venue to draw up a seating plan based on your requirements.
  3. Find out what other functions are happening at the same time as your wedding, and if the venue is a hotel, find out how many guests they are expecting then.  You don’t want your wedding venue over-run with strangers, whose behaviour you may find unsavoury.
  4. Ensure that the wedding venue is of easy access for your guests; ideally close to a main road and clearly sign posted.
  5. Ensure parking is not too far away from the venue and that it’s adequate.  If you count 1 parking space for every 2/3 guests, that will be more than sufficient.
  6. Look for places to take wedding photographs inside and outside.  If you can’t afford a particularly picturesque wedding venue with gardens, consider how you can decorate features of a building or gardens to create the backdrop for your photographs.  Speak to your wedding photographer and wedding videographer for advice.
  7. Make sure that the wedding venue you choose is airy (so guests don’t get tired), has air conditioning and is adequately heated.
  8. Look for a venue with plenty of natural light, as it makes all the difference to your wedding video and wedding photographs.
  9. Ensure that you have a room large enough to have wedding portrait photographs taken – we’ve had to work in rooms as small as a cupboard! A medium size room with good ventilation and light is always good.
  10. Lastly, check the toilets will be regularly cleaned during your event, and that there are enough toiletries.
